About Our Business
Cytomation GTX, Inc. was established in 2000 as a collaborative
enterprise between scientists at Colorado State University and
business leaders at Cytomation, a company at the leading edge of flow
cytometry and cell sorting development. Michael H. Fox, Ph.D. and
Charles A. Waldren, Ph.D. at Colorado State University developed a
patent-pending technology to measure mutations in a unique
human-hamster hybrid cell line using monoclonal antibodies and flow
cytometry. The CEO (Nigel Ferrey) and CFO (Criss Sakala) of
Cytomation provided extensive business experience. Their combined
efforts led to the genesis of Cytomation GTX as an independent
company specializing in flow cytometry based assays for genetic
toxicology. The current officers are Nigel Ferrey, President, Michael
Fox, Vice-President, and Criss Sakala, Treasurer. Our headquarters
are in Fort Collins, Colorado.
Cytomation GTX obtained Phase I and Phase II SBIR grants from the
National Cancer Institute that led to the further development of this
technology into a genotoxicity assay that is much faster, more sensitive
and less expensive than the leading mammalian cell genotoxicity
assay (the mouse lymphoma assay).
We have the capability of testing pharmaceuticals for genotoxicity with
the most sensitive and rapid genotoxicity assay available. Our cutting
edge technology can provide information on multiple genes
simultaneously. We continue to work on research and development to
improve the capacity to sensitively measure mutations in mammalian
cells.
